This is the new 30 second spot Nike is debuting tomorrow during the Masters. It’s a simple ad where Tiger’s (deceased) father Earl speaks while Tiger stares (awkwardly) at the camera. I can’t be the only one that wishes that instead of 30 seconds, it was a 20 minute epic of Earl berating him without mercy. That I could take a break from the Masters for.
(although, recent reports suggest his Dad may have well just given him high fives for 20 minutes)

Don’t let some of these pundits fool you, Frumpsters. Sure, sports naturally lends itself to drama, and the adoring public’s spotlight, for better or worse, typically doesn’t get switched off when the lights of the arenas, fields and stadiums that players and coaches occupy in their respective professional lives do, but sometimes people just need to get a grip.
Seriously, we’ve got respected, established journalists out there (who shall remain nameless) shedding tears and using words like “profound” and “deep” in reference to this act Tiger just put on a bit ago. And before I get labeled a hater or something, let me just say that, before now, I was never particularly fazed by all this Tiger scandal stuff. It was entertaining more than anything, but never completely ruined Tiger’s aura, or whatever, for me. Now, however, after it became overwhelmingly clear that the most sincere thing at Tiger’s presser was his own level of self absorption (or possibly the look on his mother’s face), he just might be doomed.
But at least he’s not the first to pull a stunt like this, right? I mean, his performance may have been the most Oscar worthy, sure, but there is precedence, and we highlight a bit of what may have served as inspiration for Tiger here (and after the jump). We’ve also got the full clip of Tiger’s press conference for those of you that may have missed out, so please do enjoy (regardless of how unfair it all is).

According to sources, there is a “100%” chance Elin Woods will divorce Tiger…it is estimated that the settlement will be somewhere between $100 million and one half BILLION dollars.
Eddie Murphy after the jump…

You better be. I know I am, and there’s really no excuse for any sports fan not to be. Between the NBA Finals, College World Series, Euro 2008, and today’s U.S. Open showdown between a couple guys named Tiger and Rocco, what more could one really ask for this time of year? So yeah, today would have probably been a nice day to call in sick. We’ve got Rocco and Tiger at noon ET, Miami and Florida State, the 1st and 3rd favorites respectively to win the CWS, in an elimination game at 2:00, and Germany and Austria for a spot in the Euro Quarter Finals at 2:45. Time your lunch appropriately. If you had the foresight to Tivo this stuff, good luck avoiding the scores/updates today at work. If you had no such vision, well, be mindful of the visionaries around you. At least we should all get to enjoy seeing two potential CWS cinderellas square off in Georgia vs Stanford tonight at 7:00. College Football should be taking notes…

Some guy named Trevor Immelman…

Trevor made himself vulnerable, but Tiger failed to come from behind yet again.

Tiger made his move today, but then so did the guys ahead of him. The field, represented below by the chicken, is still alive. Sunday Tiger looms…

Tiger’s 7 back now. He’s looked relatively pedestrian, and the task ahead is a daunting one. Woods will need the 2nd biggest comeback in Masters’ history if he wants to slip on that 5th Green Jacket this year. Of course, if anyone is gonna pull such a feat off, Tiger is the most likely candidate. The Grand Slam dream, and the hype, is alive, but it’s slipping. It’s on life support even. Some Tiger free highlights await after the jump. Gary Player Edition…

Tiger is 4 shots back after the opening round, but we stand by our prediction…
