Victoria's Secret Valentine's Day merchandise

Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day from Victoria's Secret...

A relatively long time ago, in a land not particularly far away, Frump would hit the field to “interview” your average, random UNC and Duke fans immediately after the big game.

As chronicled in the latter half of this post, it provided valuable insight into the minds, motivations and demons at the heart of a classic rivalry in one of its most honest and vulnerable moments.

Unfortunately, we no longer have the time or resources for “field work,” but at least we have the blogosphere — where perhaps some of those same aforementioned minds go to express sufficiently similar, honest, heartfelt sentiment about their beloved losers…

  • Seriously, all jokes aside, this is a good read. It’s entertaining, presents a valid argument, and  includes at least one word that the average person will never use in everyday conversation (ever). As far as “Carolina lost because of the refs…” pieces go, that’s more than enough to earn Frump’s seal of approval.Oh, it also touches on topics such as racism, reverse-racism, napalm flamethrowers, and the use of cute little red arrows to highlight things that happen on nearly every other trip down a college basketball court.  Like I said, it’s good… [XTCIAN]
  • While the Tar Heels are figuring out a way to keep from getting beat by the refs, N.C. State would probably be satisfied with a win over Peace College. Perhaps a new coach would help get things back on track. Tubby Smith, anyone? [Backing the Pack]
  • We’re suckers for a good “ball to the face” video here at Frumpzilla. As such, linking you to this one was pretty much obligatory [The Score]
  • You know, maybe I should reconsider the whole “hockey thing.” I mean, it’s basically two sports in one + added comedy, and that’s by all means a positive. More goalie fights, please [Larry Brown Sports]
  • Green Bay, Wisconsin: Good at packing, cheese, football, math, and — most importantly — sticking it to Brett Favre [No Guts, No Glory]
  • Hey, that Super Bowl thing happened earlier this week. Remember? Well, here’s why the NFL “dropped the ball.” [Awful Announcing]
  • Hey, those Super Bowl commercial things happened earlier this week. Rememebr? How about the one where the NFL edited all those “classic” TV clips? Here’s the originals and edited versions side by side [Last Angry Fan]
  • Our friend Dave from Carter-Finely takes a look at N.C. State’s 2011 recruiting class and the value of recruiting rankings [DFCF]

DeSean Jackson’s historic, walk-off punt return TD against the Giants – Tecmo Bowl style!

December 20, 2010

YouTube user MrNFL does these things so well. Frump’s used his lovely work before, and we’re very grateful for it.

Fingers crossed for hoping MrNFL can somehow manage to pull off Dan Connolly’s epic, “fat guy” return against Green Bay, too. That would be something.

Much like Jackson and Connolly’s returns were for the NFL, I’m pretty sure a 71-yard kickoff return by an offensive lineman would be a Tecmo Bowl first. Unfortunately, the game’s inherent programming limitations might make that one impossible, but one can dream…

Hitler is told about the Vikings bizarre release of Randy Moss…

I keep waiting for these Hitler videos to get old. Hasn’t happened yet (at least not for me). To be fair, this one starts off a bit slow – thought it might be the death nail – but, by the end, it’s well worth the 4 minutes. Especially the Brett Favre and Lions jokes…

Is the NFC North inept enough for the Lions to make a title challenge?

Jim Schwartz throwing the greatest challenge flag in NFL history

Jim Schwartz is certainly hoping his Lions can make a run at the playoffs

Assuming Detroit’s goal is to win the NFC North, Week 7 of the 2010 NFL season may have been the Lions most productive performance in quite some time.

Two of the Lions’ three “Norris Division” contenders getting clipped was an obvious positive, and the bye week, of course, meant Detroit was atypically safe from suffering its 6th loss of the season.

The fact that these two blessings coincided, well, again: let’s just say that, for 2.5  NFL seasons, Week 7 was about as good as it gets for the boys in Honolulu Blue.

But wait…there’s more. Let alone the losses themselves, did you happen to catch any of the Packers, Vikings, and Bears this weekend? Oh my, it wasn’t pretty.

If the Packers offense was ever on the same page, it was in different books; Brett Lorenzo Favre played about as well as he would have in a Rascal – and may have actually needed one at the end; and the Bears participated in possibly the sloppiest game in recent NFL memory, not to mention against Detroit’s Week 8 opponent, the Washington Redskins.

Combined, the three active NFC North offenses turned the ball over 11 times in Week 7, and, ultimately, one has to wonder just how capable any of them are of cementing a playoff birth anytime soon.

Enter the Detroit Lions, who, at 1-5, certainly don’t appear any more capable than the rest at first glance.  With a closer look, however, one sees that Jim Schwartz’s team might just have an outside shot at what few ever considered possible…

Brett Favre to endorse Wrangler, really tiny, jeans

May 13, 2010

We’ve all seen the Brett Favre Wrangler jeans commercial. It has a certain je ne sais quoi about it, you know? Anyway, I guess this is just a natural progression for perhaps the greatest Packer ever. Nowhere to go but up from here…

Thanks to T-Rex for the tip…
