Major League Baseball is back, four days after the first offical game of the 2008 season was played.
Don’t have much to say about this other than it’s nice to see that ESPN and MLB, unlike some other leagues and networks, had the foresight to not schedule this at the same time of today’s NCAA Tournament games. Nice work, guys. Or maybe we should be thanking CBS. I don’t know, but, either way, it works.
Braves vs Nationals tonight at 8:00 on ESPN. Won’t be the first official game of the season of course, the Red Sox and A’s had that honor earlier in the week over in Japan, but it will be the first on American soil. Play ball (and go Braves…)!

I’d like to note that the Braves’ away unis were awful. Blacked out numbers on the back, all dark blue hat, mostly dark blue front of jersey, etc. I guess this was an opening night thing. At least, I sure hope so. Ewwwww. Also, G-dub came out guns-a-blazin’ with that high fastball to Manager Manny Acta. You know he warmed up in the clubhouse for about two hours.

I actually liked the old(er) school hats. Much prefer those to the standard red brimmed ones. Poor Tim Hudson though. The Braves are gonna need some old(er) school bats for his outings. That kind of shit (2 runs against Odalis Perez and the Nationals’ bullpen minus Cordero) killed him last year.
W, the President, was on fire last night. He was definitely bringing the heat.
Still can’t believe that guy is President of the United States. About half-way through his stint up in the booth, I was pretty confident I could call ole Bushy up and ask him if he wanted to grab a beer in Georgetown next weekend or something. He’d say “yes” of course…

Those hats were old school? Like Eddie Matthews old school or Ozzie Virgil old school? Regardless, da Bravos better bring bigger sticks than that. I mean, Odalis Perez. Please. Dude ate a case of Twinkies watching Bush 43 warm up before the ceremonial. By the way, how about
Brian “He looks like….” McCann’s rocket off the wall? Wow.

Well, I did say “old(er)” school, as in “older than the current trend, so Ozzie Virgil. Still much prefer those to the red brims.
McCann definitely hit a shot. Unfortunately, so did Ryan Zimmerman…
