12th seed Dawgs, only 4-12 in the SEC this season, continue their surprising SEC Tournament run after tornado forces festivities, fans out of the Georgia Dome.

This game was scheduled for 9:45 pm last night.  I know this, because I tried to watch it at a local watering hole (my cable provider, which will remain unnamed out of respect for the content of this site, doesn't offer ESPN Full Court).  So I waited for close to 3 hours before they announced that it was officially postponed until today at noon.  For Georgia fans, it was worth the wait; first time they'd beat Kentucky in tournament play in 9 tries.  For Kentucky, "Et tu, Brute?" ?

Fortunately, my wait wasn't entirely in vain I suppose.  Mississippit St.-Alabama (scheduled immediately before Georgia-Kentucky) was only delayed by the monsoon that tore into the Georgia Dome, so I caught the end of that one.  It was good.   I also got to see and enjoy the irony of Tubby Smith's Golden Gophers pulling a "Hill to Laettner" against Indiana.  That was special (that kid has pulled crazy shit like that twice now?!?).  And how could I not be enthralled by Clemson's dismantling of Boston College as if they were a Class A, JV girls squad?  Well, at least the Minnesota-Indiana game was good. 

A soothsayer once told Julius Caesar to "beware the Ides of March".  Well, he didn't, not enough at least, and we all know what happened to him (at least I hope "we" do).  In a battle of Bulldogs tonight at 8:30 in Georgia Tech's Alexander Memorial Coliseum, the Dawgs from Georgia will be hoping to guide Mississippi State to a similar fate.  Highly unlikely, of course.  Notwithstanding the disparity in quality, this will be the first time in SEC Tournament history that a team has had to play two games in one day.   Unfortunately, it's a necessary consequence of the Georgia Dome debacle.  Otherwise, the SEC may not have crowned a champion in time for Selection Sunday. 

Georgia is an 11 point under(dawg) to Mississippi State tonight, and that's probably fair. Stranger things have happened though I suppose.  Afterall, it is the Ides of March.  The Dawgs continue to audition. . .will they win the role of Brutus yet again?   If so, I will add the "Kissed With Apocalypse" tag to this article. . .and start stocking up on non-perishable canned goods immediately.
