WRIGHTSVILLE, Georgia-- Many people think they know the legendary Herschel Walker, and that's because they've probably met him in person and hung out with him. He's a famous running back who won the 1982 Heisman Trophy.

"I didn't really learn about my identity disorder until about 20 years ago," Walker tells a generic reference. "My life was out of control. I was not happy, I was very sad, I was angry and I didn't understand why." Asked how many different personality facets, or alters, he has, Walker replied: "To be honest, I have no idea." But in his new book "Breaking Free," Walker talks about two in particular: "Bo Jackson and Walter Payton."

 "I knew I was Bo Jackson or Walter Payton in a cold winter night in 1988 when I just bought another Nintendo system to add to my collection of Nintendo systems, and sat down to play Tecmo Bowl for the first time out of a brand new cartridge. Of course, I blew into the cartridge before I inserted it into the console. Needless to say, I used myself as a running back, and I was practically unstoppable."

"I mean, I would run 90 yards through to the other teams' red zone, then juke the safeties and corners and run back to my team's red zone, then back to the other teams' red zone without even being touched. Totally unscathed, dude. I could do this with only two other running backs in the game: Bo Jackson and Walter Payton. Now, you tell me that it's not a logical conclusion. All three are equally effective and ultra outrageous in Tecmo Bowl.  All three can run around the whole field and never get tackled. We're all the same running back and person, we even wear the same damn jersey number: 34. It doesn't take a shrink to figure that out."
