Tonight’s Sweet 16 Lineup:  Sorry, Davidson plays tomorrow.

Yep, there's some good games on tonight, but I'd rather be watching Steph Curry and Davidson trying to clip Wisconsin.  Nevertheless, here's a  brief, unprofessional look at the Sweet 16 games slated for this evening.

(7) West Virgina vs (3) Xavier, 7:15 ET

Line: West Virginia, -1

Other than their ability to hump Georgia's guards up and down the court in the 2nd half of their opener, and hit 27 of 33 free throws to the Dawgs' 3 of 5 (sorry, I'm still bitter about that), I haven't been terribly impressed with Xavier.  On the other hand, West Virginia should be riding high after knocking off the 2nd seeded Dookies.  Let down game?  Let's hope not.  I like the Mountaineers in a close one here, and, more importantly, I'm just ready to see the Musketeers get thier due.

(1) North Carolina vs (4) Washington St., 7:30 ET

Line: UNC, -9

We're billing this one as the Irresistable Force vs the Immovable Object, though I guess that's a bit tongue-in-cheek.  Why tongue-in-cheek?  Because it really only fits that bill on paper.  UNC is averaging about 110 points a game thus far in the Tournament, and ranks 2nd nationally on the season averaging 88 ponts per game.  Washington State was ranked 2nd nationally in points allowed at 57, and is holding their opponents to a high school girl's esque 40 point per game in the Tourney.  Something's gotta give, right? 

Well, I think we all know what that will be.  Don't let the numbers fool you on this one.  It pains me to say it, but I fully expect the Heels to handle the Cougs (best remaining mascot in the Tournament by the way, in a sense...) by double digits, which makes that -9 a bit enticing.

(1) UCLA vs (12) Western Kentucky, 9:45 ET

Line: UCLA -11.5

I love how the networks (and Woody Paige) like to pretend Western Kentucky has a chance in this one.  It's a business, I get it, so I guess they don't have a choice, but Frumpzilla will be honest.  That's our proimise to you. I'm sure the Hilltoppers willl be as scrappy as ever and play their hearts out, and I think UCLA is due to lose/not catch a break as much as anyone, but tonight isn't the night.  See you again next year, WKU.

(2) Tennessee vs (3) Louisville, 10:00 ET

Line: Louisville -3

Leading scorer Chris Lofton is supposedly a bit gimpy for this one, and the Volunteers have looked vulnerable of late as it is.  What's that mean?  Well, unfortunately for my beloved SEC, I think it's about time for Bruce Pearl's Volunteers to make yet another, relatively early, exit.  Back-to-Back-to-Back National Championships would have been something though...

By the way, Bobby Knight has still continued his surprisingly good run on ESPN.  Still hasn't dropped that F-Bomb.  Of course, that pink v-neck sweater he was sporting tonight might as well have been one.  Keep the anti-suit faith, Bobby.  I'm loving it.
