Some people put popcorn on their Christmas trees. Others prefer Christian iconography, snowflakes, tinsel, pictures of their cats — something along those lines.
Many probably come up with some bizarre combination of the aforementioned ornamentation. A select few, however, apparently choose to blaze a relatively novel trail, and trim their tannenbaum with an assortment of iconic sports figures.
Seriously, within the small, sports-themed, artificial Christmas tree demographic, this thing is pretty epic. How it got past the lady in its owner’s life — assuming there is one — the world may never know.
Make the jump for some more pics of this lovely little tree that’s so obviously after the sports fan in all our hearts…
Now, a lot of these ornaments appear to be a little out of date. As you see, looks like we’ve got Mike Vick as a Falcon, McNabb as an Eagle, Tomlinson as a Charger, Garnett as a Timberwolf, and maybe a couple other examples of active players not being on their current teams.
Given it’s the Holiday Season, I’m gonna let that slide. Besides, the amount of present and future Hall of Famers on here suggests this was never intended as a contemporary statement.
Hammerin' Hank: Still above Bonds in the hearts and minds (and Christmas trees) of many
The Greatest (Ali), Possibly the Greatest (Elway), and, uhhh, Kevin Garnett
Broadway Joe - lit up, as usual. And is that Eli back there?
It is Eli! I think the artist captured "Manning Face" quite well, don't you?
Magic and Larry would never let the holidays get in the way of their epic rivalry. Nor Palmer his putting practice
Fitting that The Mailman would be near the gifts, I guess. McNabb's placement also conveniently low given current events. Looks like someone might be getting a nice bottle of bourbon this year as well.
Whoa. A lot going on here. Highlights: Romo's pose is only so far removed from his infamous clavicle injury photos; Mike Vick during his Ron Mexico days, and Scottie Pippen finally gets to shine without Jordan
For the hockey fans, a nice little group here: Gordie Howe, Mario Lemieux, and Eric Lindros
One last look at the whole thing. Some names that didn't get mentioned: Jerry Rice, Kurt Warner, Troy Aikman, Willie Mays, Ken Griffey Jr., Jackie Robinson, Shaquille O'Neal, Jason Kidd, and Tim Duncan. Quite the sports holiday hodgepodge, eh? Happy Holidays!
