Betsy Eagleson still leads as we hit the break prior to the Sweet 16. Better still, we’ve been able to confirm that Ms. Eagleson “likes blue,” and is “pretty sure a wildcat could take a jayhawk in a fight.” Yes, while Betsy’s entry has pretty much been at the top of our contest from the first tip, it wasn’t one of the 51% of brackets that picked Kansas as this year’s NCAA Champion. She went with Kentucky (beating Kansas in the final). She has arguably faltered by having Kansas in the Final Four, but then so did 87% of our entries. More after the jump. Cameron Frye posted the highest 2nd round score with a stellar 33 (11/16). Several entries were right there with him with 30’s. Lowest second round scores were posted by Gary Hassell (tied for 1st after the first round) and Carolina Davila with 15’s, and two of Frumpzilla’s own are bringing up the rear: The Ginger Head Man and, of course, Admiral Fleece McStaticpants. Also of note is the fact that, if not for UNI’s crazy upset over Kansas, several entries would have had a shot at a perfect Elite Eight. Impressive.

There’s still a chance for most (maybe). Just have to hope one’s bracket scores fairly well going into the final, and then someone like Ohio St., Kansas St., Baylor, Purdue, etc., wins it all (i.e. a team no one in the contest picked). Still an outside shot, perhaps, but a shot nonetheless.
In other news: Strongly considering changing The Admiral’s handle to “Rear Admiral Fleece McStaticpants.” Truly pathetic display thus far…

I could be good if Baylor and OSU make the final 4 and Syracuse wins it all. Granted I won’t benefit from the prizes here, but I stand to make a lot of money in other pools if that plays out!
